For over 30 years Good Thyme Herb Co. Catering has been providing flavorful, generous food, for events big and small on the Mendocino coast. Focusing on seasonal and local ingredients has always been our approach. We believe in simple, ancient, slow cooking techniques, that let the quality of your ingredients, speak for themselves.
Debra Dawson ~ Owner / Chef
Owner and chef DEBRA DAWSON was trained by French farm women in the purest country tradition of the Brie Champenoise, and by partner Jacques Peré, with whom she created the renowned LITTLE RIVER CAFE on the Mendocino Coast. Their robust, authentic food was enthusiastically reviewed in New West Magazine, 101 Best Restaurants of Northern California, and Hidden Restaurants of Northern California.
She is also inspired by the extraordinary cuisine of Mexico.Debra is the creator of GOOD THYME HERB BLENDS and author of The Good Thyme Herb Blends Cookbook, a User’s Guide. I grew up in the kitchen. By the time I could see over the counter, my mom was having me ‘help out’ with the family business. As a young man I apprenticed in Switzerland, under the guidance of a chef who was the ‘professor of gastronomy’ at one of the finest hotel schools in the world. We specialized in handmade traditional Italian Trattoria food! After returning to California I worked as a chef, for In Good Taste Catering in San Luis Obispo, to help pay for my college education. Our clientele included, Edna Valley Vineyards, the Madonna family, even a wedding at Hearst Castle. Since returning to my home town of Mendocino, I have been a part of countless joyous occasions, as head chef and general manager, of the family business; Good Thyme Herb Company. Now that my mom, Debra Dawson, moves towards a much deserved retirement, I am honored and excited to continue the family legacy of providing flavorful, generous food, for the people of the Mendocino coast.
